Phaser Type C, mark IX
	The Phaser Type C or 'Civilian' was a model introduced for non-Starfleet personnel that might enter dangerous situation. Equipped with only 3 settings, all of the stun, the CIX Phaser gained quick popularity until Starfleet discovered that one of the reasons for it's popularity was the ease that an decent technician could convert the CIX to a full power phaser. Starfleet quietly removed it from service but many millions had already been sold.
