The prototype XV-51 and 5 pre-production airframes were evaluated in bare metal finish. The aircraft’s skin is composed of aluminum, titanium, and carbon fibre composites. Evaluation aircraft had the composite areas painted with an aluminum lacquer; the radomes and antennas were standard Russian ‘dielectric green’. The three national insignia are combined into a single unit with the three nations’ experimental aircraft divisions marked on the wing, tail and intake trunk. |
